The first issue after DC renumbered the title sticks to a straight WWII-anthology formula. It tells several stand-alone tales set across the services: an infantry squad fighting street-by-street to secure a village, a green fighter pilot who learns teamwork on a perilous bomber-escort, a Navy landing crew threading mines to put Marines on a hostile beach, and a tank-destroyer team outsmarting heavier enemy armor. One-page “life in the service” fillers break up the action. Overall it’s gritty, patriotic, and focused on ordinary GIs doing hard jobs rather than recurring heroes.
